CCD vs. CMOS: comparing colour accuracy reports
3

What are these reports: tables show the accuracy of reproduction of ColorChecker SG target based on custom profiles, target shots taken in Imaging Resource studio with 2 cameras:

  • Pentax 645D, based on Kodak CCD sensor, reports marked as "CCD";
  • Pentax 645Z, CMOS sensor, reports marked as "CMOS".

Report numbers are of deltaE2000 colour difference formula, sorted in such a way that the largest value indicating the largest error is in the topmost row of data. The value of "1" is just noticeable difference, JND; values below 4 are considered to be very good.

CMOS

Additionally, colour neutrality and linearity graphs:

We can, of course, argue very minor differences in those reports and graphs, but those differences would be hardly noticeable in real world.
