I bought a 50-200mm when it first came and am going to stick with it. I've never had opportunity to try the later lens.

However, the later lenses, and this is without empirical proofs - i.e. my own assumptions, benefit from Fuji's ongoing improvements in focus speed, noise, and general operation in ways which have not been addressed with firmware for the earlier models.

Having both the original 35mm f:1.4 and the newer 35mm f:2.0 I can say that the newer lens is faster in operations and quieter than the early. It's lower weight would be expected because of its smaller aperture.
