580 II and 550EX's work fine, but no RF triggering.
The 580 and 550 do not have RF receiver capability built in. You would need to have them mounted to an RF602 or 603.
I meant they work fine attached to the camera, I have used CyberSync's for years. It was fairly easy with the 580 having a sync jack, 550's I added a hot shoe connector. I really like the small/ light transmitter on the camera, and has been Highly reliable. Handholding with the a receiver and cable,,, not so good, ok on a stand. Probably will get a couple RF603's if I use this system, excited the YN560 III, IV, and YN660 is built in.
Never liked slaving with the ETTL, the preflashing causing people to blink/ react. Even using them manually, still pre flashes. I like just one flash.
Still searching for RF flash triggers,,,, for G1X II (Or a new camera)
G2, G5, G6, G9, G12, 10D, 40D, 5D III, 7D all worked fine.
How were you triggering the external flash from these cameras? The 7D does have optical triggering which will work w/o any extra hardware. The other DSLRs do not, nor do the Powershots to my knowledge.

Thanks for your comments Mark, much appreciated!! Triggered with CyberSync's.
And you are correct! The early G series 2-6, I used different third party flash accessories, Sunpak,,etc. And they worked with camera's. In early G series, in the menu you could choose in manual mode to see the image on display, or have the exposure emulated on the display. Checking my 40D, it works in manual, but it doesn't recognize the YN560TX either. No lightning bolt in viewfinder, does not set sync in Av mode, but fine in manual mode. I will have to check the live view, might have the same problem, but I don't use live view in my setups. I would guess the 5D and 7D are the same. The 560TX wakeup feature works, touch the shutter button, the link light flashes while camera is active, about 5 sec.
Link light stays lit while on the G1X II, might work ok outdoors, inside will be black a display. On a positive note,,, since it does not recognize it, the G1X shutter delay is just as fast as if no flash is used, once pre-staged, the delay is 50ms or so, (my guess) Very happy, timing is everything. G12 flash delay was Horrible, and unusable with action.
Thanks again for input, searched on 560TX, nothing came up, so I thought I would post my findings. And if I find anything that works, I will post.
