I like the idea of sticking with the same system for dual bodies.

For what it's worth, the 18mp sensor used in the 60D/7D/t2i was upgraded by the time it got to the t5i and SL1. Not that it was entirely different or better but liveview AF was improved in latter 18mp cameras.

I am biased towards Canon but I do think the D3300 sensor looks pretty bad at higher ISO and loses details really quickly. Of course, if you believe DXO, it's as good if not better than the sensors in Canon's higher-end pro bodies of the time. If shadows are important then expose to the right slightly and that problem is solved. It seems like Sony made everyone forget that proper exposure is important.
