tt - I hadn't given a single thought to HDR for this scene. Of course!!! I do have the NIK filters operating on my stand-by computer (with OS X.9.5) but on my number 1 computer I am still on OS X.6.8 (to run a couple of legacy apps) so they don't work. On this computer, I use Bracketeer for HDR with excellent results.

As you say, tt, the sea could be problematic, but since the sea horizon is a nice straight line, I can always just paste the sea in from one of the originals.

The only problem is that I will have to carry the tripod. Dang! Well, my walk will take 5 minutes longer because I will be going that little bit slower! LOL.

Geoff,

That second photo - which I love for its shapes - doesn't have to be given full HDR treatment to bring our the colours etc. A bit of contrast, add some red hue overall, and sharpen to make the cloud edge really stand out and it really gets more like what I imagine you were aiming for.

I always enjoy your tales of how and why you took a photo - that's what it's all about.

Maggie
