Action photography in cloudy weather and moderate light

I'd like to do action photography in cloudy weather. I did this last weekend with mixed results, using a K-3 and the Pentax 16-85 lens.

Besides autofocus problems with the action photos, there were a lot of photos with blur. I am wondering if a lens with a wider aperture would help so that the shutter speed can be increased.

The impression I get is that these lighting conditions combined with moderate light would challenge a lot of cameras and lenses to produce sharp images.

The three lenses that I am considering are:

1. Pentax 35mm DA L F2.4 AL

2. Pentax smc DA 50mm f/1.8

3. Tamron Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Autofocus

Do you think that any of these lenses would produce photos without blur, for action photography under cloudy conditions and relatively low light?

Thank you.

Fujifilm XF 35mm F2 R WR Pentax 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 WR Pentax K-3 Sony FE 50mm F1.8
