HowTo? Use "tethered mode" with a7Rii?

Short notice: for a group portrait at about noon today that needs to be done expediously, it just occurred to me that tethering might be advantageous.

In the past, this "Canon f.f. semi-defector" has occasionally used tethered mode with my Canon 6d plus USB cable plus Canon's EOS Utility. It worked ok, other than being sluggish. I've never attempted wireless connectivity and tethering.

I've found several links that describe this, but I'd appreciate feedback on what to be aware of. My concern is that it could slow down the portrait session significantly between captures.

I've got a rather wimpy Intel i3 based HP-Split laptop running Windows-10, without LightRoom loaded on it (yet). It's probably faster than an Intel Atom based laptop.

Is there a utility or PlayMemories App that is known to work with minimal learning curve? USB seems like it would be faster and more reliable. Wireless?

The only PlayMemories App I've used is Sony's rather lame Time-Lapse App, and installation can be non-trivial. It has a definite learning curve.
