If it were me, I would save $50 (USD) a month until the Canon T6i/T6s (750D/760D) cameras were within budget. A person can always buy another battery, so the battery life shouldn't be an issue. Keep your Canon 1100D as a backup. Then save up for a wide angle lens for next year. But it really depends on what you want. The difference between the latest 24mp Rebels and your 12.2mp Canon 1100D is huge.

A good and well fundamented advice.

When I was in simular shoes a while back I did think this way:

- when I buy a new body that will be great, but in a few years technology will have changed again, do my next buy, perhaps in two or three years, will be another body, so my investment in a body now will loose it's value totally (this is perhaps a bit exaggerated, but you get the idea)

- when i, on the other hand, buy a new lens, I can enjoy the investment still as I buy that better newer new body in a year or three.

At that time I decided for a lens and kept my (then kinda absolete) body. I did indeed buy another body last spring and am still enjoying my lenses.

(I don't think your 1100D is obsolete yet, though these new senors are indeed a leap forward)
