Hi, some information

Many thanks. (Even for the code links... although it's like Chinese for me )

  • Focus buttons - Program that displays series of buttons on top of the screen
    • long press (1+s) to save current focus position
    • click to restore saved focus position
    • Can be used for studio shooting, astrophotography (focus on infinity during day, recall the focus during the night), etc.

Oh I see... Very useful features.

As I've replied Kino Seed , I think read me should put a HUGE text saying these functions work in MF which are their natural place to be used IMO.

Improvement suggestions:

  • Could you add a "Focus position xx saved" text similar to Near/Far ones within Focus stacking after a long press?
  • Could you make them persistent till redefinition? (I mean survive a power-off cycle).
  • A small bug at least within S lenses. Press Disp till you have the focus distance bar displayed. Then use the Focus Buttons. The distance bar is not updated when the focus position is actually changed. (If you touch the focus ring afterwards, the displayed focus position immediately "jumps" to its right value).
  • Focus stacking
    • Focus on near point - press "Near"
    • Focus on far point - press "Far"
    • Click "Stack" and wait for it to finish
    • Files are in the usual place - remember to fix exposure/awb/etc as you normally would

So, when you click on Stack the stacking should start.

There needs to be at least some delay as the camera needs some time to complete the commands (focus then take image, etc) - via experiments came down to 1s as minimum.

Thanks. Now I can get it working but:

  • A more or less serious bug. I've made several tests with 5 shots - 2 seconds (in case it matters). And the fifth picture is always front focused. It's like if you have divided in five segments (but six focus distances) instead of four segments (but five focus distances). Could you check it?
  • My very first suggestion: A "Focus stack in progress..." message would be really nice (and if you could add a counter with the taken picture...).
  • Could you make the focus stack parameters persistent? (I'm not so sure if I would make Near and Far positions persistent).
  • I would also swap the "?" and "stack" buttons. More over I would rename "stack" to "start" or "go". I mean, we know we are inside the focus stack function, therefore a more assertive text would be more user friendly IMO.
  • As the stack process is somehow long and the "buttons" are somehow tiny, you can accidentally launch it without having set the focus distances (you wanted to press Far, but you touched Stack). If possible, I wouldn't allow launching all the process unless Far an Near are correctly set.
  • Another small bug. I haven't found the exact trigger, but the "Far/Near position set" text sometimes is kept on the screen persistently. (Maybe when you quickly touch other stack buttons?)

Mostof the things are in development mode right now and are not as polished as they should be so most documentation is for somewhat knowledgeable people (early adopters of sorts) and is available at https://github.com/ottokiksmaler/nx500_nx1_modding
