I currently shoot with a 5D (the first one).
All I have right now is a 50/1.8 II that came with it when I bought it. It's fine, but I'm more comfortable with the 35mm focal length. I'm wondering, given that I don't readily have much cash to drop often, should I hold out and get the Sigma 35mm ART or settle for the 35mm F2 IS?
I know eventually I'll get the Sigma anyway, but I'll be needing a 35mm soon and I can't make up my mind.
Anyone have any common sense or just ideas to throw my way?
I am a big fan of fast 35mm, I replaced my Canon 35L with the Sigma 35 Art and have been super happy with it, only regret was why I didn't do it earlier. like the Sigma so much I now own a Canon mount and one Nikon mount. I have played with friend's 35 F2 IS and have no interested to add that to my bag, the Sigma to my own eyes is so much better of a lens, Faster 1.4, sharp edge to edge, super built quality, mine was dropped once to the ground and still working perfectly now. I never find IS useful for my type of shooting.
And by the way, I have no AF issue with both my Sigma Art, it focus perfectly fine on all 5 of my camera bodies (800E. 1D4, 1Ds3, 1Ds2 and 1D II), so both my Nikon and Canon mount Sigma USB dock still sitting in the closet and never have the need to use them yet, it's not broken so nothing to fix. and recently some of my friends also bought the 35 Art and all of them have no AF issue. So apparently there is some people don't have AF issue, they just don't come to the internet scream like those have the issue, so keep in mind you normally heard only issues on the internet, most people just buy the lens and go enjoy it if it works fine, the one has the issue is always the loudest on the internet, tiny bit of problem can it like the world is about to end.
