Best Fuji Setup with $1,600 budget

I am a Canon T3i/600D user who is looking to upgrade into a Fuji system this summer. I primarily take family, travel and landscape photos. I would like to be able to take better low light photos and even a little star photography from time to time. I am interested in going with a Fuji because of the ease of use, better low light, higher dynamic range, lower noise and general overall sexiness. I also don't want to have to carry a backpack when I travel and shoot, like many of my DSLR friends.

My budget is roughly $1,600. I have been reading reviews and forum posts and I am thinking about going with a X-T1 body and a XF 23mm 1.4R lens. I'm hoping to get the body on sale (maybe after the T2 is announced) for around $600 and the lens for $700 when the sale happens later this month.

My question to you Fuji users is does this plan provide me the best bang for my buck, or would I potentially be better off spending more money on a new T2 and a cheaper lens (like the 35mm F2)? Would the benefit of the new sensor/processor outweigh the benefit of higher quality glass? Is the the tech in the X-T1 still good enough in comparison to hold up for several years?

Thank you for your time, advice and responses.
