D500 - easy switching of AF modes
7

I've just discovered that on the D500 I can assign a button to change AF modes and it will also activate autofocus when it is pressed.

So, I usually shoot S [single point], but if I am having a hard time keeping a single AF point on my subject I can now assign a button, such as the PV (preview) button, to an AF area mode which will also activate autofocus automatically when I press it ( using menu CSM, Controls,  f1) .

For example, by just pressing the PV button I can now instantly change from [S] to another maybe larger AF mode like Group AF ( or D9, or whatever ) to help the camera to get focus. When I take my finger off PV, I return to my original AF mode.

So nice and easy - well done D500 .
