If you're looking to match the LX7, something like the 12-60 f/3.5-5.6 would match pretty closely. The smaller apertures are made up for by the larger sensor area (about 2.5 stops bigger on the GH4, if I have my conversions correct). The 14-42 II would also be fairly close, though you'd lose a bit on the wide end (28mm equivalent vs 24mm).

However, if you're matching up with an LX100 going forward (as you seem to suggest in your original post), I'd suggest the 12-35mm f/2.8, as it's brighter and more closely matches the lens in the newer LX100, which has a sensor that has a much smaller crop factor relative to the GH4.

How does it work? I thought both the LX100 and the GH4 have the same sensor size.

The LX100/D-Lux = 24–75mm f1.7.

You are about halving the numbers; what am I missing?

Manolito

From a focal length standpoint, the 12-35/2.8 is the closest, but even with the LX100's 2.2x crop (vs the GH4's 2x crop), the LX100's lens is still faster and will offer shallower depth of field at wide angle. If you hold the LX100's lens at f/2.5, you'll have matching DoF with the GH4. I'm not certain, but I'd bet that the LX100 is probably pretty close to f/2.5 for most of its focal length range anyway.

If you must have matching DoF at widest apertures, then yes, the only options for the GH4 would be primes.
