A more conventional technique I'v seen is to get a digital image printed onto a transparency and then create the darkroom print from that. The transparency print obviously needs to be quite large(10x8) as eveb the best printer doesn't have the resolving power per inch of exposing film but I'd imagine the resolution would be higher than the method listed above.
