The time delay in the first tests were perfectly valid. If you shot by pressing the shutter button, the time delay would ensure that there was no residual vibration from that action to distress the images slightly.

That's fine. No big whoop. But, as a reminder to all, what Ken Strain wrote in response to my comment is probably well worth keeping in mind:

"Combinations of lenses and cameras also do not need to behave similarly, so somebody could find that lens X and camera Y is a bad combination, but someone else find that pairing is fine, even if their camera has shock problems with lens Z."
