I will check that combo out for its low light focusing speed and report back.
I just did a focusing test of the 30mm on an NX500 and NX1 in a dark environment. Using SAF, Focus Assist Light off and varying focus box sizes I saw negligible focus speed differences between the two combos; both struggled.
Turning the Focus Assist Light on helped some with the NX500. But one thing that was a definite plus for the NX1 was being able to use the lowest of three brightness settings for the light. I was testing the focus by picking objects from 5 to 21 feet. In this distance range the single bright level on the NX500 only helped a little; whereas the lowest level on the NX1 improved the focusing speed nicely. This was still lagging well behind the 16-50 S speed on the NX1 at 30mm focal length with no light assist. I tried the 16-50 S on the NX500 and its performance was decidedly worse. I wonder why?
