I have used both, I sold my 15-85 when I bought the 17-55. I did that for one reason (and I'm really surprised no one has brought it up that I noticedow light indoors!

I did. I say you lose 2stops of iso at the long end with the 18-85 .the 17-55 is still tests out to be the best standard zoom with IS for aps-c I hung on to mine long offer I had stopped using aps-c .although I have started using aps-c for traveling again I have swapped it for a 35mm f2is which is more compact and a stop faster still. And I can put it on FF

re is no comparison - none. the 15-85 is a wonderful landscape lens but is only so-so in low light. The 17-55 f/2.8 is absolutly stellar in low light. If low light photography is a propriety, there is no other choice other than primes - but the constant f stop zoom on the 17-55 is great. I do miss the wide angle 15mm for landscapes, but less than I appreciate the quality of the indoor low-light photos I get with the 17-55.

I'm using a 70D and a 7Dmk2.
