You have done everythign right except one thing -- you shot with a delay.

used a time delay of either 2s or 10s

That is exactly how to prevent shutter shock. The shck is caused by the closing of the first curtain prior to the picture being taken, then it opening again and the second curtain coming over to close and end the exposure.

Shutter Shock is vibration caused by the closing of the first curtain and then it re-opening immediately.

However, in your tests, you introduce a delay of 2-10 seconds between hitting the shutter button -- and closing the first curtain -- and opening the curtain again to begin the exposure.

In that 2-10 second delay, the vibration caused by the first curtain closing dies down. As a result, you do not see any SS.

To see SS you need to shoot with the same conditions you have set up BUT without the delay between pressing the button (and closing the first curtain) and exposure.

If you doubt that the GX8 can exhibit SS, check the announcement of the GX80/85 where Panasonic compares the dramatically reduced vibration from its new shutter compared with the vibration shown by the GX8 shutter.

Panasonic did not change the shutter for fun.

Sorry to say but time delay 2 or 10 sec don't close the first curtain; shutter delay (1,2,4 or 8 sec) does.

The new shutter would be more silent; that's an advantage because the one in the GX8 is a bit loud
