I'm planning to use them on a speed booster, which is why I want to stick to one brand (one adapter).

Things that I look for in a lens (with the top being most important)

  1. Flare control when pointed at light sources
  2. Chromatic abberation control
  3. Sharpness at wide open aperture

First, if you have not researched speed boosters thoroughly, you might read more. They are in effect a second lens in the light stream; you must be happy with the booster's optical quality (and price).

Your posts indicate you see the magic of old lenses. One brand is not the king of all focal lengths. Once you start using legacy lenses, you will likely want to try another and another in the months and years to come. I use generic cheap mechanical adapters. Most of the photos in my photostream are shot with legacy lens (and identified in the tags) -- variety has been half the fun.

Your point 1.: Do you take a lot of photos that way? If the source is off to the side although in the frame, a hood often takes care of problems.

I actually have a Metabones speed booster and used to have a cheaper knock off. Optically the difference is subtle.

Actually I already have been using legacy lenses for several years. The main reason im looking for a set of primes now is due to the low cost and ergonomically/visually matching up with my Fujifilm camera.

Of course I know hoods protect from side flares If i was concerned about that I would have mentioned it. My main concern is flare from pointing directly at light sources.
