The manual is the first learning aid
1

Many learners ask what they should read to learn - and I believe the manual for the particular camera is the first starting point and you have the camera in front of you to experiment.  As you come across terms that are not clear then ask on here quoting the page & term.  Saves a lot of miscommunication.

Enjoy.  Green Auto is a good starting point but to get the best out of your camera you'll want to turn the dial around in due course.

A quick story about being "a pillock".  My purchase of the 700D was unplanned - I had basically gone in to replace my broken 18-55 kit lens on my 450D.  A couple of weeks later I was abroad in a taxi with my wife and her niece so I handed the camera to her as she had the 450D.  Within 2 mins she was praising the touch screen that I didn't know it had got!
