Canon SX60 HS or Nikon B700 / P610
1

I'm hoping some of the great minds can help me out with a decision.  I'm looking for a super-zoom to accompany me on hiking/backpacking trips and other travel for nature photography.  I am strictly an amateur and am not looking to spend oodles or to carry too much gear with me on the trail.  I might also use this camera, if appropriate, on recording kids' concerts and the like if the video quality is good enough.

I currently have a Powershot G16 I am very happy with that I use for general travel and family snapshots.

In favor of the SX60 would be the hot shoe for my existing Canon flash and a possible external mic for video use.  I would also be able to share batteries/chargers with my Powershot G16 and perhaps throw both in the bag.   RAW capability is also a plus.  I also think I prefer the slightly wider end on the Canon versus the Nikon (21 v 24mm) for landscapes.

I only hesitate because I have heard mixed things on the SX60 image quality in comparison to the Nikon - and I would prefer the eye sensor of the Nikon and also the GPS and 4K video.

It looks like pricing will be close enough on both.

Any thoughts would be most welcome.  I realize B700 is not out yet, but perhaps some that have used the P600/P610 might have relevant input.

I suppose I would be willing to be talked into the Sony DSC-HX90V or its just-announced successor, but I'm not sure I want to give up the reach on the zoom to get to that compact form.
