Panasonic GX7 Unusual Power Up Problem

Hi,

I've just powered up my GX7 for the first time in months  (4 Months may be), and I had a very unusual problem which I've never encountered before with any of my other cameras.

On power up the camera vibrated quite loudly (a lot louder than normal and the vibration felt stronger than normal), and it reported on the back screen I should power off and on again. I tried that a number of times but the same error message kept repeating.

I tried a fresh new battery, no joy.

I removed the lens and powered on the camera and noticed the vibration was coming from the sensor which was tiring to 'shake' clean on power up but the sensor movement looked restricted almost as if something was jamming it from moving freely.

After I tried various other things without success i decided to bash the base of the camera on to my palm to see if whatever was restricting the sensor movement would free it. After a couple of bashes I powered on and the camera powered on as normal

The violent / loud vibration experienced earlier just disappeared??????????

I have taken a number pictures and they are clear, no focusing problems.

Can 'not' powering up the camera for a few months cause the sensor mechanism to seize up?

Has anybody else experienced the same with the GX7?
