Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV - best choice for me?

I've had my old point and shoot, a Canon S90, forever, and it's just not up to snuff anymore (but it was great for a long time). I, of course, use my phone a lot, but I need something better than that, particularly when I travel.

I'm looking for a lightweight point and shoot with good automatic settings, but also lets me take control when I want. I want a viewfinder. I want wi-fi.  I want good zoom. I awant to take pictures in low light.  I want, you know, everything.

My brother-in-law showed me his Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV and it's very nice.  Amazingly small, which is great for me since I have small hands.  I'm a little concerned about battery life, but more concerned about the cost.  Seems like a LOT for a point and shoot, although if I'm going to keep it for as long as I had my S90, it's probably worth it.  I don't take a lot of video, is that what's upping the cost?

What's a good alternative, just for comparison?  I'm used to the Canon menus, but that's not a deal breaker.

Thanks, as always, for your help.

Alice
