Hello,

I have the old but highly regarded 14-45 f4 kit zoom. Using it on a Panasonic GX7. Used it for travel.

The 12-35 f2.8 zoom is on sale. $698 from Amazon.com.

Is the 12-35 IQ much better than the 14-45 IQ?

Pros/cons of the 12-35?

Also, if in the future I purchase an Olympus OMD -/EM10iI/ EM5II / Pen F cameras, is either lens usable with the Oly IBIS?

Thank you.

Coming from a GF1 and 14-45mm kit lens I swapped the lens for the 12-35mm. Great lens. IQ is better (although my 14-45mm was not bad), the faster lens means the option to shoot lower ISO values (better IQ) and play a bit more with shallow DoF for portraits, and I found the OIS to be better.

Soon after that I switched to the EM5 (mark 1) and it formed a great combo with the 12-35mm. The IBIS of the EM5 was better than the OIS of the 12-35mm so I just turned the OIS off and still had a fast, compact lens. I tried the Oly 12-40 as well but saw no reason to switch. The 12-35mm is smaller and has the OIS option in case you still go for a Panasonic body anywhere in the future. For me the 12-35mm is a keeper.
