If you want a convenient travel lens for use in good light, get the 14-140. And, if you want lenses that are either brighter or sharper, get primes.

I agree with your conclusions. These days I tend to take the 12-35 and 35-100 when shooting landscapes etc where the weather sealing is crucial, and for low-light action where I need fast zooms. For travel (cities etc) I'm more likely to take my three primes (Zuiko 12, 25, 60 macro) plus the 14-140 mk2 for situations where other focal lengths are needed or lens-swapping is impractical. The 14-140 mk2 is in my view a fully acceptable lens, very much better than the first version and most, if not all, superzooms.

When my girlfriend and I do urban travel, I carry GX8, 7-14mm 12-40mm, Voigtländer 17.5mm and 75mm f2.5 Color Heliar. She takes a GX7, 14-140mm II and 20mm. We swap lenses or cameras when she wants wider or I want the extra reach. It works well. At times I'll leave the 12-40 in favor of my Voigt 42.5mm. I MUCH prefer the 17.5mm and 42.5mm to the 12-40mm, which I bought mainly for convenience. Had the Panasonic 12-60mm been available at the time, I might have bought that instead of the 12-40mm..
