Re: Compare panasonic 14-140ll with 35-100 f2.8

Thank you all for replying and trying to help me in my choice. Thanks in particular to Frederick Glickner who posted the comparison shots of all the longer Panny lenses.

Based on his selective crops, to me the 35-100 does not do very well in terms of sharpness at 100mm even stopped down, and the 100-300 seems to me to be easily the best of the bunch.

So I have the following conundrum

35-100 is the only water resistant lens

100-300 is sharpest, but starting at 100 is a bit awkward for what I want to use it for (sailing events).....most shots are in the 40-100mm range. I would have to have another body with shorter lens as well (not impossible)

14-140ii is reasonably sharp, very convenient (I can get shots at the start when boats are close to me, as well as when they are further away).

Based on your experience, I am going to stay with 14-140ii for the time being.

I have more comparison to do with Nikon 1 V3 and 30-110 (x2.7) as well. Before everyone laughs and says that the 1" sensor does not cut it, the best shots I have so far are from that combination. However I am still a newbie with GX8 and there may be better things to come.
