Got to shoot a wonderful model from Wilhelmina today using the K1 and the new 24-70/2.8. Many thanks to Jim Malcolm of Ricoh Imaging for bringing the K-1 to NYC so I could shoot it. Pics in a bit after I go through it all. Cannot post a full res as the firmware is still not finalized, but I'm sure you folks will like it.

Overall from the two hours I got to spend with it, the K-1 is an incredible camera. It's on par with the top of the line Canons or Nikons. Seriously I now will get myself one, a great companion to my 645Z.

Feel free to ask questions below. Will be happy to talk about camera controls etc

Hi Ramirez,

I'm interested in using this camera with some samyang manual focus lenses. Are you aware if the K1 has some great features such as focus peaking?

Even better than focus peaking is catch-in-focus aka focus trap. This is where while using the manual focus lens you leave the camera in AF mode, hold the shutter full down and no picture will be taken until something is in focus, this only works on the center point and there may be some minor quirks you'll learn along the way but you can even shoot sports this way. It can also be setup to be prefocused at a specific point, you use an external trigger to lock the shutter down and walk away, whatever comes into focus gets photographed, people use this for hummingbird in flight photos.
