Hi,

I have received as a gift a EOS 1000D Body, no lenses.

What do you suggest to buy? Actually i'm evaluating this configuration:

- 24mm STM 2.8 + 50mm 1.8 STM

or

- 18-55 STM version

Or do you have some other suggestion? I don0t have a large budget, and i'm not a pro, for that i'm evaulating good lens but without stellar cost.

Thanks very much

P.S: the 1000D is a good entry level reflex or is crap respect to 1200D?

When I had my first DSLR, after some time I thought how useless focal range is 18-55mm, and I could not imagine shooting with prime lens. Prime lenses looked like "rare species" to me at that time. Now I appreciat how wide range the 18-55mm lens has, and how awesome are prime lenses.

I believe you need to get that kit lens, spend that money, and learn from it. Maybe you´ll absolutely like that lens, maybe you´ll want more/different later. We cannot make it for you. That STM kit lens is very good and sharp lens for what it is and what it costs. Maybe you add 50mm STM for portraiture and shallow depth of field playing later.
