My bet was that if I invested heavily in the Pentax FF range, and capitalised on my prior K-mount investment, even before there were all the necessary announcements, specifications, reviews and other feedback, I would have a good system for 2016 and at least the next 5 years. A high risk, potentially high reward bet! So I sold some other equipment, steadily saved my money, and pre-ordered everything in sight.

This thread suggests to me that this was a good bet! (I used the D FA 150-450mm lens successfully all last summer, so I already had some confidence in the new range).

I'm not buying a K-1 as an alternative to other FF cameras. I'm buying this Pentax FF system as an alternative to other (FF or otherwise) systems. The K-1 is "simply" one of the components, (obviously an essential one!), in that system, and over the next 5 years or so will probably be replaced without sentiment. Probably the lenses won't be replaced.
