I lately have been using electronic shutter during some of my birding time just as a fun experiment and have got some pleasing results.
I know electronic shutter is bad for fast moving subjects, especially BIF but when targeting more still moments it can deliver some great results.
Here are some examples from some very local shots deep in the woods which I was targeting Eastern Rosella's and any other Parrot or bird I came across. I also took a lot of butterfly in flight shots during these trips but ofcourse that wasn't using electronic shutter.

Enjoy!

Crimson Rosella (almost an adult)

Crimson Rosella

Australian King Parrot (juvenile)

Eastern yellow Robin (juvenile starting to get patchwork)

Brown Thornbill (these are very tiny birds and that's a 1/60 sec bill freeze)

Brown Thornbill

Brown Thornbill (note the tail effect, looks cool to me thanks to E shutter)

Bell Miner

White-browed Scrubwren (another small bird)

Yellow-faced Honeyeater

These are outstanding
