The importance of the DL 18-50 being underrated?

Is it just me or is the potential impact of the DL 18-50 not being given the attention it deserves? granted we've had some basic compacts push slightly beyond 24mm equivalents and the Ricoh GR's with 21mm adapters but a true UWA zoom on a compact is something new.

Honestly I get the sense that forever limiting things to 24mm equivalents at best was rather like sticking with 1/1.7' sensors for premium bodies for so long. Everyone was happy taking the easier design route until sony went with a 1 inch sensor and forced them to follow suit.

When you consider that probably the most important market for these kinds of cameras is holiday shooting I think UWA range really is a killer app, especially consider with a zoom that goes all the way to 50mm and is still ultra fast.
