Like you, I associate Egrets with wetland areas. As I indicated those shots were taken over a period of a few days. In this instance, I stepped outside to smoke a cigarette, and I saw it out the corner of my eye. It was about 40 yards away and slowly walking towards me, at about 25 yards it slowed down to a cat like stalk and then froze striking position and stayed frozen until I finished my smoke. At that point I decided I wanted that pose so slipped back into the house, got the camera changed the lens and ran back outside.

And wouldn't you know it, I missed the initial strike! By time I got back outside he already had the Mole by the head and was trying to gobble it down. I sure am sorry I missed that first strike! Not as sorry as the mole however.
