Canon G12 Manual focus

I am using my  Canon G12 a lot for depth of field focus stacking.

But my problem is that after taking a picture in manual focus mode, the focus shifts or "jumps".

Why is this? It seems to be rather random, so I am guessing that it is a bug and not a feature.

What I would love to know is:

-Is there a way of making the focus stay put after taking the picture?

-Is there a way of *controlling* how much the focus moves? When I am shooting at f5.6 I have learned that 10 "Clicks" is sufficient for getting overlapping focus. It would be nice if the focus automatically and consistently moves 10 clicks after each exposure?

Hope that somebody has a solution for this!

Best regards,

Haavard
