Should I get a kit lens or not?

Hi Everyone
So, 15 years ago I had a canon basic slr, so long ago I can't remember which. I loved it, with the basic kit lens, I was a beginner, it was great. I don't know what happened to it, but somehow a few years after that I didn't have it, and needed a quick cheap slr, so bought a nikon. Hated it from the start, mainly the way the pictures came out with a different colour set to the canon. It had 3 auto focus points, super not helpful.
So, now I would like to get back into taking pics again, the iPhone cam whilst great is not quite cutting it!
I've narrowed it down to 760d, or an updated 100d, if they announce anything. I have tiny hands so I think the 100d would suit quite well, I went to a shop yesterday to have a hold but they had closed down LOL.
My question, would I be mad not to get a kit lens?
I can remember on both my last slrs practically keeping the lens at 50mm for pics.
So I was thinking of getting a 50mm, or 40mm. And then the 10 - 18mm as I live by the sea and want to take pics of landscapes.
I have lots of dogs and want to take pics of them as well, but I'm thinking the 10 - 18 would be fine for beach shots, and 50mm for other pics of them.
Review wise the 18 - 135 sounds like a fab lens, so maybe it's worth getting that?
But the 18 - 55 being a bit more basic, and kind of covered but the two I would buy maybe not necessary?
It seems odd to me to not buy a kit lens as a newbie, but I feel like less of a newbie as I'm a bit more certain about what I want to take pics of now.
If I get those two lenses AND the kit lens then that's 3 lenses which just seems to be overkill.
Any advice gladly received!
