Pocketable is relative. If your DSLR is a 1DX, then a G7X is pretty small.
Very true, but in this particular case, I qualified my needs in the original post. We're talking about a suit-jacket pocket, sport-coat pocket or even a tuxedo-jacket pocket. Weight is important, too. Frankly, it appears my only practical choices are the G9X or original RX100. For me, this camera will take the place of the unit in my iPhone 6s and Fuji XF1.
Agree. I think I understand your requirements. Why I want a small pocketable camera with 1'' CMOS is that I want a camera better than mobile phone with me all day. And sometimes I like to do "street photography". So if I have a pocketable camera with me, it will be very convenient.
And I think this is what you want (except the street-photography part), right?
Exactly. I tried out my old Fuji XF1 again tonight and, frankly, the noise at ISO 3200 in a low-light tavern was quite acceptable to me. But the autofocus was very, very hit and miss. And the problem is, you can't tell about the focus on the rear LCD. You find out on you computer after you get home.
How do you think of your XF1? Does it pocketable enough?
In terms of pocketability, the XF1 is perfect. Image quality is surprisingly good with the 2/3" sensor - even up to ISO 3200 uaing full resolution (although pixel peepers probably won't agree). Autofocus is a hit-and-miss proposition in low light - although I'm continuing to experiment with different settings. I'm still trying to get this camera to do the job in this specific low-lifht situation because I really like it and aways have.
