I was toying with the idea of buying a Bridge camera like the Pano. FZ 70 primarily for portability and reach the zoom lens provides, but the Q system seems like another alternative with its small size and the ability to adapt long lenses I already have. I'm aware of the convenience of 'One lens does all' but IQ may favor the Q with higher quality lenses.

Let me mention that I use several brands of cameras with their respective lenses and a collection of legacy glass, I don't need another camera or system but due to my incorrigible addiction, here I am looking for one.

One feature I would like is focus peeking, and I haven't found any info. telling me that the Q has that. I would appreciate your thoughts based on your experience with either the Bridge, Q-s1 or both. I thank you in advance.

Hi.

Yes, all Q cameras have focus peaking, a great help with manual lenses.

Thank you Pedro, that strengthens my decision to get one.

I have a Pentax Q-S1 as well as a Canon Powershot SX50 HS. Two different beasts. I like then both for their relative strengths. If portable 50 x zoom (or more) is what you're looking for, get the superzoom bridge camera with EVF. Way more convenient for actually taking super telephoto photos. If you want to play around with adapted lenses, that's another thing. Decide what you want, or get both.

Nilnoc, thanks for your reply,

As much as would like a Q I'm leaning towards the Bridge for convenience and long reach and since I already own mirrorless cam. for adapting lenses.

Get a bridge. It sounds like you've already given SLRs a fair shot. I've never heard of someone missing SLRs unless it was for some niche.

It's just that a man FEELS less serious about photography if he hasn't got 20 lbs. of gear on his shoulder.

I can't even COUNT how many good shots I've missed while swapping lenses.

I agree with you, I ordered the Pana. FZ200.

The FZ300 offers significant evf and other improvements that I think are worth having. Never understood Panasonics use of tunnel vision evf in the later fz series.

I would have preferred the FZ300 for the reasons you state but it costs more than I wanted to spend.

I understand - it is why I still have the FZ200 (that and the fact that I have a dozen other underused cameras already...).
