Thanks a bunch for the replies. To be more specific about needs. I think I'll have a better idea in a few months once I've used the a6000 a bunch. Right now, I usually carry a murse when I'm on vacation. The a6000 fits into this easily along with 1-2 primes. The backup cam is mostly for times when I don't want to carry a bag, which is usually when pocketability matters.

Probably at this point I need to handle a G7X to see how it feels in hands and pockets. Then I can figure out if it works well as a secondary. OTOH if I find that the a6000 is too much of a hassle to carry everywhere then the G7X could be a good middle ground.

If you want only 1 camera, go for the g7x. It's lens is very flexible, from 24mm to 100mm you get both wider and longer than a kit lens, and it is fast at every focal length, so is very capable in low light and with depth of field control.

If you want two cameras, I would go with the g9x as a capable pocket cam. It will easily fit in your pocket so you could carry it with you everywhere. My g7x is perfectly comfortable in a jacket pocket, but it is a little tight in a pants pocket so I wouldn't carry it with me all the time.
