Tempted by Fuji... convince me
Feb 5, 2016
Hi all
I am currently an Olympus m43 user and quite heavily invested in that system (EM1, EM10 and more than enough lenses).
I have recently been seeing a lot work coming out of Fuji cameras and impressed by the color rendition and general 'look' of the images including OOF areas. I also think noise is better controlled in Fuji. As such I've been considering stepping into Fuji in addition to my Oly gear.
So far I've had a play (in shop so pretty limited) with an X100T and XT-1. Originally I was keen on the fixed lens variety since that would limit my ability to keep spending on lenses! However, I'm not that sold on the focal length of the X100T, a touch wide for my liking. I also found the AF on the X100T very slow (relatively speaking) even under good light - the guy in the shop "yeah that's why manual focus is a good idea" hmm. Anyway the AF on the XT-1 seemed a little snappier and I like the 35mm 1.4 lens focal length.
My Flickr stream will give an idea of my shooting preferences, but really a mix of street / travel photography, landscape and a fair bit of B&W. I tend to like a slightly longer focal length for street/travel, obviously wider for landscape.
I would retain the Oly system for the landscape type shooting and really use the Fuji for street / travel including B&W, and for more 'art' type shots, whatever that means.
Would the XT-1 with 35mm 1.4R be a good selection given the above? I don't quite get the difference between the XT and XE series.
Is that 35mm lens known as one of the better, if I was to choose only one? I do like to have sharp lenses.
The XPRO-2 would be awesome but outside my price range unfortunately. I was also contemplating the upcoming X70 but not having a VF has turned me away.
Any help much appreciated!
