Thanks it's good to know the dust reduction works well! By clunky do you mean it's louder? That's not a big issue with me as long as it works well lol. Looks like the compromise with AA is longer time to AF, maybe that is one way they make the batteries last longer. But I actually like that you only need to use 4 AA's, most DSLR these days you need to use 6 or even 8. 4AA still makes for a pretty portable package. How good are the two kit WR lenses with live view AF using Eneloops? That's what I will be using for now. Thanks!

Yep clunky, both audible and you can feel it shake, whereas the others I mentioned you can neither hear of feel. As I said, it works well for me having never had to resort to sensor cleaning on my K30 (nor my Kr, but did have to on my older K100D [no SR], K10D [GX10] and canon 30D [no auto dust removal]).

Live view af with the DA-L 18-55 that I have using the eneloops seems fine in good light far faster than anything on my Canon 50D (Now that is painfully slow in live view). Again can't say I take many photos in low light to be of any help. The DA-L 18-55 has about a quarter turn of the focus ring from close to infinity whereas the 55-300 I mentioned earlier has a half turn so I think that may play a large part in the speed of live view af in screw driven lens. Just to clarify I use contrast detect af in live view not the phase detect where it flips the mirror to af. My 18-55 is not the WR version. I gave away my WR version but as I recall it's AF is the same as the non WR version that I kept.

I don't have the newer collapsible kit lens to test and I don't own the 50-200 anymore.

The CDAF method you mentioned not raising the mirror reminded me of something else- does this camera have a dual mechanical and electronic shutter? I think I remember reading it does, but I dont remember if the electronic shutter can be used at all shutter speeds or if there's only a small range of shutter speeds where it can be used?  The reason I ask is that an electronic shutter should limit shutter wear and shouldn't count towards shutter actuation tolerance limits (which are around 50K for this camera, if I remember right?)
