You have shown NO samples.

Hello,

I know this is really old equipment, so old most of you might not even be familiar with it but I still use it because it is sufficient for most of my needs.

I use a Canon Rebel XSi 450D which produces outstanding results with the kit lens 18-55mm.

Because I do mostly street photography I wanted a wider lens and I purchase a mint like new condition Tokina 12-24mm wide angle lens after reading endless good reviews about this lens.

But ever since I got it, I can not manage to get a good sharp shot, it almost appears as if the lens diminished the camera resolution, very disappointing. I have always read that wide angle lens, they so wide that the whole frame is almost always in focus, sharp, but not in my case.

I want to avoid that taught that I got screwed with a defective lens that needs to be aligned and calibrated.

So...

Any ideas of why these could be happening ?

No, you do not show any samples.

Well, not really no: it is possible that the lens just focusses very inaccurately, and that you will be better off focusing manually or set it to infinity as standard (my 12-24mm f4 focussed very badly on my 450D). But again, without samples we can't say anything about your lens and camera combination results.

Could it be me that is not using the proper techniques to breath and hold the camera while shooting ?

Any pointers would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.
