Anyone in the UK used one of the eBay lens repair services?
So far I've seen at least three different repair devices advertised, two of them advertise replacing the iris and ribbon cable assembly, the other one replaces just the ribbon cable.
They all charge around £40.00 which appears to be about half of what camera repair shops quote, good deal or too good go be true?
I'm pretty sure my iris ribbon cable is the problem as it works OK at the long end of the zoom and not below 24mm at the wide end...…..

Andrew
Although I made good money here and there with this lens many years ago, this is a lens that's pretty well past its prime and maybe not a good candidate for repair. Canon fixed this exact issue on this lens for me, but it was covered under warranty. I'd be looking at other -- and better -- lenses to replace this one rather than dumping money into this one.
