Re: Small street shooting kit?

In my area some people seem to inflate the value of their cameras and lenses on Craigslist.  That was true even for some of the Olympus DSLR gear I used to look for years ago (more than 5 years ago).  It seems they are just looking for a "big fat fish" or they just don't know what they are doing.  I remember someone trying to sell an Olympus E-500 (that was somewhere about four years old at the time) for a price more than a new Olympus DSLR camera.  Then sometimes a "good Samaritan" would advertise that the Craigslist Olympus E-500 was way overpriced and would warn people of the scam.  I have had much better luck on Ebay from honest sellers.  Sometimes I've been ripped off, but fortunately with used camera gear I was lucky.  Once I bought a used Olympus DSLR camera from a camera shop for a good price.  They specialized in Canon and Nikon gear and I thought they had it priced low.  I also found out the shutter count was less than 500 (I knew the secret way to determine that).  So I bought it for $215 (USD) including a Zuiko 14-42mm lens.

I don't buy used gear any more.  That was a long time ago.  But I do look on Craigslist, but I rarely see anything that would make me interested.  Some are just getting rid of their lesser equipment like the inexpensive Canon 75-300mm lens when it is bundled with a camera they are offering for sale.
