We tend to forget that Pentax puts out somewhat better built and often better IQ kit lenses than the competition typically.
It is unusual that I feel the need to shoot in especially poor conditions that require a WR lens. If the weather or dust is that bad, I'd rather be shooting with a relatively low-value lens (because WR isn't weather-proof, and no optical surface is highly resilient when exposed - and the front element has to be exposed to take the picture). Bad conditions rarely demand superior optics.
So, I'm pretty happy to have the 18-55 as my only WR lens (and don't really care if the Tak F 70-210 gets a bit wet - but I probably should think about a WR long zoom to protect the camera).
