I'm wondering if anyone has a solution to eliminating lens flare in photos like these.

Admittedly, if lens flare is going to happen, this is where. I'm shooting right into the sun so it's not a surprise, and in any other shooting situation I cant find a flare. Mostly I dont like the small white dagger on the bottom of the frame. Is this something a lens hood will take care of? I'm not using one. Or maybe I am just SOL and shouldnt shoot into the sun with this lens. Any tips or feeback welcome.

I'm using a 5DSR and a Canon 35mm IS USM F/2

The Hood is the solution, protection for your lens, and protection against flare for your images. For my 35 I purchased the Hoya 67mm Rubber lens hood, I find these useful for many of my lenses and preferable in some cases to the Canon offerings.  As others have said, shooting straight into the sun, hood won't help much though.
