Re: Canon G9x- nice images, BUT...

I've tried it a couple of ways so far. (Btw- I keep saying Lollipop- my old phone didn't get the last Lollipop update which some Nexus owners said crashes the Canon app, but my new Nexus 6p has Marshmallow)

1st METHOD

Menu settings on camera> wifi settings> touch to phone

&

Phone- Camera connect App on> touch to camera

-- hide signature --

>

At this point the camera & phone DO recognize each other- phone now shows camera's SSID and camera now says Connected device: Nexus 6P

THEN--->

The camera says "Connected smart device can now operate camera and access images on memory card" and offers YES and NO buttons

Doesn't matter which option I chose- I tried YES several times, then NO a few times just for giggles.... either way....

----THIS HAPPENS----->>

The phone goes through a 3-step process- all on the same screen-

find a network (check mark)

connect to network (check mark)

connect to camera--- hangs here with a circular loading GIF/animation

.... and AT THE SAME TIME.....

Phone says:

"Connecting Nexus 6P"

with the same fun circular loading GIF/animation

EVENTUALLY...

the phone gives up... says "Cannot connect to camera. check the camera settings"

& camera says "Connection failed"

2nd METHOD

Adding device via Quick Menu, using my home network.

Both the camera and the phone are connected to the network, but the camera can't find the phone via the router.

It ends up at the same connection failed screen

I also tried using the direct connection button on the side of the camera to connect.

Same deal, except the phone doesn't show the camera this way and the camera gives up first.

----

Also tried another similar method from the manual involving switching access points, with equally disappointing results.
