I didn't know this. It doesn't make sense to me; Live View should be less accurate.

so you're saying if I set my SL1 Live View to use Phase Detection (so the mirror flips up and back down to focus), I'm getting worse results than with the Live View system? Does this explain why Live View takes longer to focus compared to the view finder?
