Why so many variable aperture DX lenses ???

Why so many variable aperture DX lenses ???

So I finally got around to looking at Nikon's DX lens selection and couldn't help but notice that most of it is variable aperture crap , is there a reason that they don't make that many constant aperture lenses like they offer FX users. Is there a technical reason ?
