Would you bother with the 12mm F2, 17mm f1.8 or 45mm f1.8 if you had the 12-40 f2.8 Pro?

Wow! Lots of views but pretty much as expected! I don't have unlimited funds so would have to sell equipment to fund the next one. The 12-40 Pro is fantastic and not too heavy but after spending lots of time looking at the 40-150 Pro I think it is far too heavy for my style of photography. The 7-14 is calling me now and would be great for my NZ based photography. I would love to have all the primes but from experience would rarely use them.

The truth is going places is the best way of using your existing equipment but being a stay at home dad I spend more time driving kids to school/friends/sports/dancing than practicing my photography.

I have a weekend pass from the wife to do the Tongariro crossing with a few friends in a couple of weeks so hopefully it will enthuse me again. It is one of the worlds greatest day walks according to some (in New Zealand).

I don't think these type of threads are useless, full frame/APS/vs m4/3 threads are, as are the DoF threads!

There also isn't a photograph of a brick wall/cat/dog anywhere which is always a bonus in my books.

Thanks for all the suggestions and it's good to know we are not all clones who want the same equipment, we can leave that to the Canikon users...;)
