Would you bother with the 12mm F2, 17mm f1.8 or 45mm f1.8 if you had the 12-40 f2.8 Pro?

Have a look at the voigtlander 17.5 or 42.5.

They are much faster, can give less dof , give a very nice color and character to your images.  Either you like it or not.  When You like the result, they are worth effort for the Manual focus.

My 17.5 is on the camera most of the time.  The 12 and 45 are only used for special purpose since i have the 17.5.  They don't even come close in IQ and character.   No way that the 17.5 can be replaced by a zoom or another smaller prime ( 15, 17, 19, 20, 25...).

Another idea could be a rokinon fish eye...
