Would you bother with the 12mm F2, 17mm f1.8 or 45mm f1.8 if you had the 12-40 f2.8 Pro?

YMMV but for me the pro lenses stay home most of the time

You could get the PRO lenses and be happy with them .... unless gear lust gets to you

The PRO line is for professionals, it is for those who need to cover different tasks and they don't mind carrying extra weight and size as they need anyways to carry extra tools than just body + single objective (and for those who think that the PRO objectives are big and large, they are small and light compared to anything that you would need to carry with larger formats and yet reach same image quality). So if people want to carry just a single small body and one small objective, then the PRO line isn't for them.

The reasons why Olympus (and Panasonic) has nice f/1.4-1.8 range of primes is that there is still requirement for them to exist for dim light and background separation reasons, as well as for ultra small and light for travel when there is no requirement to make no compromises for composition or in image quality.
